Coal Miners Memorial
Paris-Logan County Coal Miners Memorial & Museum
Located at 804 South Elm Street the Coal Miners Memorial and Museum captures the history of coal mining in Paris from the late 1880’s when coal was king until the mines closed in the mid 1950’s. A functioning blacksmith shop contains period tools and artifacts. The names of those who worked in, owned or operated the coal mines are displayed on plaques set into stone surrounding the life size bronze statue of a miner with his shovel, bucket and carbide light. Hours of operation are Wed-Mon 11AM-5PM. Group tours are available by contacting Darlene Becker 479-438-0937 or Joyce Friddle at 479-438-1296
